CULTURAL  events

L'Alliance Française du Manitoba is more than a school!

The Alliance Française du Manitoba organises many cultural events on a monthly basis: concerts, movie screenings, Spoken Word and traditional French events (Le Beaujolais Nouveau, Bastille Day Celebration...). These all contribute to a very dynamic and eclectic program that will appeal to anyone who likes French culture or wants to learn more about it. These events also allow our students to immerse themselves in all aspects of French culture and practice their French.

Cine-FEEL: Patients by Grand Corps Malade & Mehdi Idir

Friday June 8th 7pm | FREE Ciné/FEEL presents Patients (2017) by Grand Corps Malade & Mehdi Idir

"Patients" is the story of a rebirth, a chaotic journey of victories and defeats, tears and bursts of laughter, but above all encounters: we do not heal alone. "Patients" is one of these movies that will change your life and transport you far far away. It would be a mistake to not give a chance to an experience like that. The story is touching and beautiful, the tone is rough but funny as well. Acting is simply amazing and incredibly natural.

GoGo Penguin with Guillaume Perret | June 24 | 8pm | West End Cultural Centre

Alliance Française du Manitoba is excited to partner with Jazz Winnipeg to present Guillaume Perret at the 2018 Winnipeg Jazz Festival! Perret is a virtuoso jazz saxophonist, keyboard player, and composer from Annecy, France. After recording two excellent albums with his group Electric Epic, French saxophonist Guillaume Perret went solo with Free in 2016: with funky grooves and abstract harmonies, impressions of a retro-futurist Africa and post-psychedelic U-turns, it’s a fusion of all forms of jazz, where all influences collide. He will join Manchester-based leftfield piano trio GoGo Penguin at the West End Cultural Centre.
