Regular and Intensive Courses
Our general courses provide the best means of developing the student's skills in French in the four core areas (reading, writing, listening, and speaking). There are five sessions per year, each consisting of 22 - 28 hours of classtime.
Paces
General courses can be taken at three different paces. All the paces offer the same total amount of course time per level.

- Offered as A101 (beginner) and A102 in the Summer session

- Only offered in Summer session, up to A201
Levels
Our levels are based on a global standard, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The CEFRL divides learners into three categories: Beginner (A), Intermediate (B), and Advanced (C). Each of these categories are then divided into two groups: A1/A2, B1/B2, and C1/C2. These groups have specific learning outcomes that describe a students' progress.
At Alliance Française du Manitoba, we then divide these six groups into several levels, giving learners time to progress along their learning journey in a logical manner. Once a level is completed, students are allowed to register for the next level. Beginners should start with A101. All other students new to the Alliance Française du Manitoba who have already had some experience with French should take our placement test.
