C'est avec une profonde tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de plusieurs Winnipégois.e.s dans l'écrasement d'un avion survenu en Iran le 8 janvier. Une de nos étudiantes ainsi que ses parents figurent malheureusement parmi les victimes de cet accident. Toute l'équipe de l'Alliance Française adresse ses plus sincères condoléances à l'ensemble des familles et des proches touchés par cette tragédie.

We were deeply saddened to hear that several Winnipeggers lost their lives in a plane crash in Iran on January 8th. Sadly, one of our students and her parents are among the victims of the crash. The entire team at the Alliance Française would like to express its deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.

The Night of Ideas : Being alive

Le but de la Nuit des Idées est de célébrer la circulation des idées entre les pays, les cultures, les disciplines et les générations. La Nuit des Idées réunira des intervenants de tous horizons pour débattre autour du thème "Etre vivant". Ne ratez pas l'occasion de prendre part à cet évènement mondial!                                                                                                              

Un panel en français portera sur les arts et la culture au service du vivant. Nous accueillerons Adina Balint, professeure associée dans le département de langues modernes et littérature à l’université de Winnipeg, Antoine Cantin-Brault, professeur de philosophie à l’université de Saint-Boniface, André Lewis, directeur artistique du Ballet Royal de Winnipeg, ainsi que la multi-instrumentiste, Anne-Marie Williot.

Un panel en anglais portera sur la place des innovations dans nos vies. Nous accueillerons Dr. Gigi Osler, chef du service d'oto-rhino-laryngologie et de chirurgie cranio-faciale à l’hôpital de Saint-Boniface, Diane Roussin, directrice de projet pour le Winnipeg Boldness Project, Maryam Bafandkar étudiante en master dans le département des sciences informatiques appliquées à l’Université de Winnipeg, et Matt Schaubroeck, directeur des programmations à North Forge Technology Exchange.

The goal of the Night of Ideas ("La Nuit des Idées") is to celebrate the stream of ideas between countries, cultures, topics and generations. Guests from diverse backgrounds will gather to discuss the theme "Being alive". Do not miss the opportunity to take part in this global event!

La première game night de l’année 2020, c’est le 29 janvier. Venez entre amis, en famille ou seul pour partager une soirée de fun autour de jeux de sociétés en français. Comme d’habitude, nous sélectionnerons des jeux inédits qui divertiront petits et grands. N’hésitez pas à apporter votre jeu préféré! La soirée est ouverte à tous, peu importe le niveau de français de chacun. On vous attend nombreux!                                

On January 29th, we will host our first game night of 2020. Come with your friends, family or by yourself to share a fun night with us by playing board games in French. As usual, we will pick a new selection of games that will entertain both kids and adults. Do not hesitate to bring your own favourite board game. This event is opened to everybody, no matter what your level of French is. See you there!

Carnival Club at the Alliance

Le mois prochain, c'est le Carnaval ! Pour l’occasion, l’Alliance Française a prévu pour vos enfants une série d’ateliers après l’école la semaine du 4 au 7 février entre 16h30 et 17h30. Au menu : tours de magie, activités créatives, jeux et pleins d’autres surprises ! Le samedi 8 février à 14h00, un spectacle de talents sera organisé pour clôturer la semaine festive en beauté. Le Club Carnaval est la façon idéale pour vos enfants de pratiquer le français tout en s’amusant.

In February, it will be Carnival time! For this occasion, the Alliance Française is planning a series of 60 minute Carnival-themed arts and crafts after-school activities, en français, from February 4th to 7th, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM! On the menu that week, some magic tricks, games, craft activities and many more surprises. To end that festive week, we invite all the kids who participated in the club to join us for a talent show on Saturday, 8th at 2 PM. The Carnival Club is the perfect way for them to practice French while having fun!

Agnès Varda Retrospective at the Winnipeg Cinematheque

L’Alliance Française du Manitoba, avec le soutien financier du Service culturel et scientifique de l'Ambassade de France au Canada, est fier partenaire de la rétrospective consacrée à la réalisatrice française Agnès Varda qui se déroulera en février à la Cinematheque. Tout au long du mois de février, vous pourrez découvrir ou redécouvrir quatre de ses chefs d’œuvres. Trois d’entre eux, Daguerréotypes, Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse, et Vagabond seront présentés dans le cadre de la série Restauration Tuesdays. Plusieurs projections seront également dédiées à son ultime documentaire : Varda By Agnès qui revient sur sa brillante carrière en montrant le travail qu’elle a réalisé avec passion et amour pendant près de six décennies. Vous serez plongés dans son univers et ses réflexions sur la réalisation, le féminisme ou encore la vieillesse. Un bel hommage à cette grande dame du cinéma français. Toutes les projections seront en français avec des sous-titres en anglais.

The Alliance Française du Manitoba, with the financial support of the Cultural and Scientific Services of the French Embassy in Canada, is proud to sponsor the retrospective of the French movie director, Agnès Varda, at the Winnipeg Cinematheque in February. You will have the opportunity to discover or rediscover four of her masterpieces. Three of them, Daguerréotypes, The Gleaners and I, and Vagabond, will be screened as part of the Restauration Tuesday series. On top of that, her last documentary, Varda by Agnès, will be presented on several occasions throughout the month of February. It will immerse you in her universe and her thoughts about filmmaking, feminism and aging. A beautiful tribute to a legendary woman. The screenings will be in French with English subtitles.
